Our teachers are well trained and experienced in international teaching standards. They use innovative teaching methodologies supported by state-of-the-art facilities and modern technology to arouse the intellectual curiosity of a child.

Barbro Johansson Model Girls' Secondary School follows the standard Tanzania national secondary education curriculum together with the Tanzania national education guidelines (1982) that prepares students to sit for the examinations of National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA). 

Subjects taught are Sciences, Accounts and Arts.

English is the medium of instruction, also Swahili and French are taught. Currently the school has a fully established school from form I to form VI with a students' population of 600. A total of 9 A level combinations are offered including PCB , PGM, PCM, CBG, EGM, HGE, HKL, ECA, HGL and KLF.

  • A fully capacity, the school expects to have a total of 720 girl students.
  • The school is managed by a highly trained Headmistress and has graduate teachers.
  • There are 37 teachers their number will raise to 48 at full development.

Student Centric Learning

Student centric learning is focused on the student’s needs, abilities, interests, and learning styles with the teacher as a facilitator of learning. It helps them to be active and responsible participants in their own learning.

Teaching Methodology
In the context of a model school, the teaching methodology is an important design parameter. The design seeks to promote student innovation and to make education participatory, interesting and exciting. The library is a central feature of the delivery methodology, as well as the Internet facilities to enable students to “search” for knowledge. The number of 40 students per class is recommended also partly because it allows flexibility to divide the class into half for more individualised attention for practical training and activities.
